Born in 1846 in Alcázar de San Juan, 1 on November 24, he went to Madrid at the age of seven, where his parents were going to run a bookstore. At fourteen, he began studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and there he received classes from Francisco Mendoza, obtaining the highest grades.
