Born of Irish parents, Alicia Boyle was brought up in Northern Ireland and in London. In 1929, with the support of scholarships, she went to the Byram Shaw School of Drawing and Painting where she studied for five years with draughtsman F. Ernest Jackson. She worked between Greece and England and her first solo exhibition was held in the Peter Jones Gallery, London in 1945. She often came to Ireland to paint, and in 1971 she moved to a purpose-built studio near Bantry in County Cork. She... Read full biography
