Armand Cardona Torrandell
  • Biography

Armando Cardona Torrandell was a Spanish artist who began drawing comics in the 1940s and later studied commercial law while training as an artist in a self-taught way. He began to paint in the 1950s and organized his first exhibition in 1957. He focused on the human face and experimentation with matter, volumes, and textures in his informalist period (1959-62).

He made a name for himself in the Spanish avant-garde and began exhibiting his works outside Catalonia in the early 1960s. He also worked on scenography projects and collaborated with theater festivals. His work is characterized by variegated compositions, full of human faces, calligraphic elements, and inscriptions, which define his personal iconography.
