    Artist Carl Wilhelm Gotzloff was born in 1799 in Dresden, Germany. Carl Wilhelm Götzloff belongs to the generation of landscape painters of the 19th century who longed for the south, and in Italy found a new home. After studying at the Dresden Academy, the artist traveled at a young age to Rome in 1821, where he is very popular. He joined the circle around Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld and worked closely with Heinrich Reinhold. In 1825 his move to Naples represented a turning point in his work: The determining factor was now broad, bathed in warm light coastal motifs from the Gulf of Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri.
