    Elías Salaverría was a Spanish painter who lived in the first half of the 20th century. He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in San Sebastian and later at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. He also spent time in Paris where he was influenced by the work of Gustave Courbet, Jean Francois Millet, and Honoré Daumier. Salaverría's work is characterized by a personal realist style with a marked naturalness and intimist tints. He was awarded medals in various national and international contests and competitions, and his work is represented in the collections of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao.
