    Julius Grün, born in 1823 in Stettin, Germany, was a renowned German painter known for his portraiture. He studied art at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts under Carl Joseph Begas and received an academy prize in 1842. Grün specialized in capturing the likeness of prominent figures of his time, such as King Wilhelm I, Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm, and composer Carl Loewe. He was part of the Berlin School of portrait artists and exhibited regularly at the Berlin Academy from the mid-1850s to 1892.
