    Artist José Franco Cordero was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain in 1851. Jose Franco Cordero was known as a Spanish landscape painter.

    Franco signed his work as F. Cordero, which has led to some confusion in the art markets.

    Cordero was a pupil of José Jiménez Aranda at the School of Fine Arts in Seville. At the San Fernando School of Painting in Madrid Cordero was a pupil of Carlos de Haes. Jose moved towards realist landscape and genre painting.

    Jose Cordero took part in the National Exhibitions of 1878 (Landscape), 1881 (The Afternoon) and 1892 (in which he won a third medal for his Landscape). Cordero's work is kept in the Museo del Prado and three canvases in the Museo de Historia in Madrid...
