    Joseph Heintz the Younger was born around 1600 in Augusta, Italy. He worked in the workshop of Matthäus Gundelach and attended the studio of Matthias Kager before going to Italy. He was active in Venice and Rome, where he painted a View of the Villa Borghese. He spent most of his life in Venice, where he gained great admiration for his work. He was commissioned to paint the Portrait of Doge Francesco Corner, which is characterized by the evening intonation and attention to Venetian popular traditions.
