Margherita Caffi was born in 1650 in Cremona. Caffi was the student and perhaps nephew of Vincenzo Volo. Margherita married Ludovico Caffi, an artist specialized in flower and carpet paintings. Margherita was active in Cremona, Piacenza from 1670 - 1682 and then in Milan. While the number of paintings in the Medici collections suggest a Florentine stay.
