    Archaeologist, ethnographer, painter, cartoonist and art historian. Student of Jan Matejko, member of the Academy of Skills in Krakow. He graduated from Jan Pankiewicz High School in Warsaw. He studied painting in Warsaw with Polikarp Guminski, Wojciech Gerson in 1880 and 1881, then until 1884 at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow, where his teachers were Leopold Löffler and Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz, in 1884 he left for the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, taking lessons at Paul Nauen’s school, and in 1885 he visited Paris. In 1890 he studied again in Munich. From the following year to 1892 he traveled in Italy and later in Bulgaria. In 1895 he settled permanently in Warsaw.
