    Oscar De Clerck, a Belgian sculptor, was a key figure in the renovation of Belgian sculpture after World War I. Influenced by Cubist and Futurist movements, he developed a modern Art Deco style in his sculptures. Born into a modest Belgian family, De Clerck was introduced to the art world through family friend Henri Permeke, a painter and museum curator. His works, such as "Orpheus," showcase a blend of modernity, cubist forms reminiscent of artists like Jacques Lipchitz, and a personal aesthetic quest seen in his classical figuration and simplification of forms....
