Nguy?n Ti?n Chung, born in 1911 in Vietnam, graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Indochina in 1941. He was known for his expertise in sanded lacquer, oil painting, and painting on silk. Collaborating with other artists, he created decorative lacquered screens and panels influenced by the Art Deco period. Nguy?n Ti?n Chung was described as representative of the "national style" for his depictions of villagers, soldiers, and workers with a touch of humanism. One of his major works is a view of the Th?y pagoda, showcasing his panoramic composition and modern color choices. He considered this landscape one of his favorites and revisited the theme in a later oil on canvas in 1969.
