Painter and graphic designer, leading representative of Young Poland. From 1875 he attended classes at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow, and at the age of 20 he studied at the Vienna Academy under the direction of Christian Griepenkerl. At the same time, he began his artistic studies at the Krakow University with Florian Cynek, Leopold Löffler and Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz, and classical philology at the Jagiellonian University. After their completion, in 1886 he left for study in Munich, where he continued his education until 1989 with Alexander (Sandro) Wagner.
