From 1829 he trained as a pupil of Johann Christian Dahl further from the landscape painter. Among his favorite motifs belonged Dresden and the immediate environment, but also the travels of the artist in the Alps, leaving reflections in his work. Although the literature does not travel the artist is documented by Italy and France, yet speak different paintings such as the "view of the Lago di Como" from 1841 for a stay south of the Alps (Hampel Kunstauktionen, June 30, 2016).
