Umberto Ongania was born in Venice, most likely sometime around 1860/65. Only paintings of scenes of Venice are known; primarily in watercolor, although a few oils are known. He participated in exhibitions in Venice in 1887, and in Bologna in 1888 (including watercolors of the Porta della Carta and the Palazzo Ducale). In 1891, he provided the designs for the memorial booklet honoring Prince Amadeo of Savoy, which was printed by Ferdinando Ongania. He died in Venice, most probably around 1896.... He participated in exhibitions in Venice in 1887, and in Bologna in 1888 (including watercolors of the Porta della Carta and the Palazzo Ducale). The timeline for Umberto Ongania is problematic. The prevailing view that he was born in 1875 is almost certainly not correct.
