Georgy Konstantinovich Savitsky was taught to paint by his own father, K. A. Savitsky, an academician of painting, a well-known itinerant artist, and the director of Penza Art School. In this school young G. Savitsky was one of the best students in his class and was accepted into the Academy of Fine Arts. Being part of the Academy allowed the artist to come into contact with traditions of classicism preserved in it. For the competitive diploma work of Death Of Priama in 1915, he was awarded the title of an artist and given funds to travel abroad. The independent creative work of G.K.
