François Vernay, a French artist, began his career in 1844 after graduating from the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. He worked as a designer of floral decorations for the silk industry and later transitioned to painting flowers, landscapes, and still lifes. His artistic approach was influenced by François-Auguste Ravier, leading him to incorporate color into his work and focus on still lifes based on flowers and fruit from 1865 onwards.
