She undertook extensive travels (France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland), lived in Bremen and after an illness, turned to painting later in life. From 1897 she made study visits to Munich, worked as a watercolor painter, went on study trip to Scotland, studied with John Terris (1865 - 1914), returned to Munich and became a student of the landscape painter Professor Fritz Baer (1850 - 1919).
