At the time of National Socialism, he was banned from exhibitions in 1937, and some of his works were confiscated or destroyed. From 1949, he worked as a professor of nude and portrait painting at the art academy in Caracas, Venezuela. From 1952 he worked as a freelance artist in Pullach near Munich. From 1949, he worked as a professor of nude and portrait painting at the art academy in Caracas, Venezuela. From 1952 he worked as a freelance artist in Pullach near Munich. In the following years, he created especially portraits of famous people, a which he gained notoriety. His works combine mainly a figurative with an expressive style of painting.
