Maimon did military service and then studied at the Avni Institute of Fine Art in Tel Aviv where he was exposed to the Paris school. Maimon did military service and then studied at the Avni Institute of Fine Art in Tel Aviv where he was exposed to the Paris school. In 1980, he began a teaching career, starting at the School of Visual Arts in Beer-Sheba and later at the Kaye Art Academy. By the late 1980s, he was a Professor of Art at Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Sheba. During this time, he learned about coffee house management and bought a pub and ran a restaurant.
