Luigi Renault was an Italian ship portraitist who worked in Leghorn during the last half of the 19th Century. He was also appointed as the official marine artist to King Victor Emanuel. Early in his life he started to paint ships, and was apparently trained by his father, Michele Renault (fl. 1840-68), who was a Ship Portrait Artist. Luigi Renault lived and worked in Trieste and Leghorn - both in Italy.
