Ezekiel Gibbs, (1889-1992) lived most of his life around the Houston area. He lost both of his parents before he was six years old. He never received a formal education, but lived life as a sharecropper and strong in religion. He served for more than 50 years as deacon in Vernon Missionary Baptist church. He loved his family, friends, animals, farming and gardening. Gibbs did not start doing art until he was 83 at the Senior Citizens Center. His wife had passed and he started to revisit all of... His art work is reminiscent of Marc Chagall's in the dream like quality and with floating memories executed in watercolors and crayons.
