Francois Louis Thomas Francia was born in 1772 in Calais. Francia worked in London for much of his life, serving as a Member and Secretary of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours. Francia worked as painter in watercolours to the Duchess of York but is perhaps best known as the tutor of Richard Parkes Bonington (1802-1828). The artist passed away in 1839.
