Francisco Rodriguez Onate was born in 1940 in Morelia. Onate is a plastic artist who has an extensive career in the artistic and cultural milieu and is known for trying to preserve Mexican traditions through art. He studied together with the painters Alfredo Zalce, Roberto Martínez and Javier Arévalo. Onate was director of the Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita, promoter of museum halls in Michoacán and co-promoter of the Museums of Contemporary Art in Pátzcuaro and Alfredo Zalce de Morelia. Throughout his career he has performed more than 70 exhibitions individually and collectively in Mexico, Russia, France and the United States, where he made the transportable mural "Friendship between peoples".
