Born in Paris, he spent his childhood in Myanmar and Morocco. After returning to France with his family, he exhibited his works regularly from 1989 to 1994 in Parisian group exhibitions. In 1994, he began to devote himself to street art. In 1995, he moved to New York and began to put up posters with his drawings, in which slogans point to the grievances of society. In 2001 Kokian's first solo exhibition took place at the Galerie Artoza in Paris, which made him known to a wide public. Kokian lives and works in New York.
