He lived and worked in Berlin, from where he often traveled on study trips, which yielded numerous views from the visited cities, including Ingolstadt, Wroclaw, Darmstadt, Antwerp, Gdansk, Nuremberg, Ulm, Stuttgart, the Rhine and Lake Constance. He also painted portraits, he is mentioned as the author of the portrait of Emperor Wilhelm I. He exhibited in Berlin in 1868-1895.
