Walter Becker was a German artist who studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Essen and later at the academies in Karlsruhe and Dresden. He became a master student of K. Albiker. From 1924 to 1935, he lived in southern France where he was in contact with G. Braque and Th. Mann. After returning to Germany in 1937, he was ostracized as a 'degenerate' artist and retired to Tutzing. In 1952, he became a professor at the Karlsruhe Academy alongside E. Heckel.
