  • Biography

A New York dress manufacturer, he became a folk painter at age 70 after the death of his wife, Sadie. He closed his dress shop where he and his wife had sketched the dresses they made, and he lived on to be 103 years old. Some compared him to Grandma Moses because he was a memory painter, harkening back to scenes scenes from his Eastern European heritage, growing up in Brooklyn with its houses, streets and the bridge.
