From 1888 onwards, Tominetti exhibited in London and Milan together with Giovanni Segantini and Angelo Morbelli. He devoted extensive studies to nature and this greatly influenced his rendering of light and atmosphere. The artist began his studies at the Brera Academy but, due to financial straits, in 1872 he returned to his family in his home village of Miazzina on Lake Maggiore. Tominetti dedicated himself to portraying traditional mountain life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
