    Ahmed Shibrain was born in 1931 in Berber, Sudan. He studied in the Arts and Crafts Department of the Khartoum Technical Institute and continued his studies abroad in London. In 1960, he co-founded the School of Khartoum with Kamala Ishag and Ibrahim El-Salahi.

    The group disbanded in 1975. Shibrain wanted to define contemporary Sudanese identity after the country's independence in 1956. He became the director of the institution renamed College of Fine and Applied Arts in 1975 and was appointed Officer for the Sudanese Ministry of Youth and Cultural Secretary for the Ministry of Culture.
