    Albert Likeke Mongita, also known as Mongita Likeke, was born in 1916 in Irebu, Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was a multitalented self-taught painter, writer, theatermaker, composer, and filmmaker. Mongita exhibited for the first time in 1947 in Leopoldville (Kinshasa) and was later tutored by the painter Laurent Moones at the Stanley Pool school. He specialized in landscape painting and exhibited at the Antwerp Colonial Exhibition in 1948. Mongita Likeke also served as the director of the National Theatre and director of Cultural Affairs.Information provided by the user.
