Albert Wigand 1890 Ziegenhain/Hesse - 1978 Leipzig Studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf under Lothar von Kunowski until 1913. From 1913 active in the circle of students of the painter Otto Ubbelohde. During the First World War, as a medic in France. 1916: First exhibition in occupied northern France. Rethel, initiated by Walter Kaesbach. 1925 Moved to Dresden, where he worked as a window dresser from 1930-43. Studied nudes with Woldemar Winkler at the same time. In the 1930s, Wigand developed his own lyrical expressionism. Drawings of village and street scenes in Bohemia, the Ore Mountains, and Lusatia characterize his oeuvre, which was complemented by painterly still lifes after 1945.
