Alberto Quintanilla was born in Cusco, Peru, on the 19th April 1934. He studied first in the Escuelas De Bellas Artes del Cuzco, and later in the Escuelas De Bellas Artes de Lima, where he finished his studies with a gold medal.
After this he travelled to Paris, where he continued his art studies.
Known as a painter, sculptor, potter and particularly for his gravures, he has participated in the Bienales of París, Venecia, Florencia, Berlín and Lujbliana. He obtained the Gold Medal in the Bienal of Florence and the Bienal of Berlin.
