    Alecos Kontopoulos, Lamia, 1904 - Athens, 1975. He studied initially with the painter C. Sarafianos then enrolled at the School of Fine Arts (1923-1929) where he studied with C. Iakovidis D. Geraniotis, P. Mathiopoulos and Nicolas Ransom. He studied with P. Le Daux and H. Morisset in Paris (1930-1932). In 1935 he left again for Paris where he attended classes at the Ecole des Beaux Art and Academies Chaumiere and Colarossi.

    He participated in the Venice Biennale together with C. Spyropoulos, Av. Lameras, A. and E. Mylonas. He enjoyed great artistic success and was instrumental in the imposition of innovative trends in Greece. Sensitive to the ideological and social problems of his time, ...
