    The Swedish painter Alexander Roos was born in Uppsala and came into early contact with the artists around Smedsudden (Smedsuddskolonin). After private studies, he made several study trips to France, Italy and Germany where he developed an uninhibited and naive painting.

    Together with Hilding Linnqvist, Gideon Börje and Eric Hallström, Alexander Roos belongs to the first generation of naive people and participated in two separate exhibitions, 1919 and 1929. Despite an unusual talent, Alexander Roos has remained relatively unknown along with his contemporary artist colleagues.
