    Alfred Desire Lanson was born in 1851.

    Lanson was a pupil of the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris.

    Lanson exhibited in the Paris Salon from 1870 until his death in 1958.

    His talent was recognised in his own time, with a third class medal in 1876, a second class medal in 1879 and a first class medal in 1880.

    Lanson was also made Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 1882.

    With his sculpture L'orage, he was awarded a Grand Prix at the Exposition des Beaux Arts in Paris.
