    Alfred Heaton Cooper was born in 1864. He was a Northern artist and father of the landscape artist William Heaton Cooper. Alfred Heaton Cooper studied art under George Clausen before relocating to Norway where he set up a studio. He returned to the UK in 1894 settling back in the Lake District, having shipped his log cabin studio over from Norway. Cooper is best known for his watercolours, especially those relating to the Lake District and daily country life, as well as those of the Norwegian Fjords.
