    Alfred Juergens (1866-c.1934)

    Alfred Juergens was born in Chicago on August 5th, 1866. He began his artistic education there, where he studied at several institutions, most notably the Chicago Academy of Design. Juergens, then traveled in Munich where he studied under Kochler and the Munich Royal Academy, where he was also a pupil of Wilhelm von Diez.

    The artist was particularly preoccupied with mural decorations. He was a member of several organizations of note: Munich Artists Association, Artists Association of Germany, and the International Society of Fine Arts. His awards include among others silver medals at Madrid and Munich and a bronze medal at the Panama Pacific Exposition of 1915.
