    Alfred Jean Halou (1875-1939) was a sculptor known for his female statuettes, particularly those of bathers, nymphs, and naiads. He was highly regarded by his contemporaries for his smooth modeling, full forms, and calm attitudes. One of his works, the Bather with a bush, was likely intended to be seen from a low angle and may have been created as a caryatid or for a fountain project. The State acquired a bronze print of his work La Baigneuse au buisson in 1933, which is now part of the collection of the Musée National d'Art Moderne and on deposit at La Piscine - Musée d'art et d'industrie André Diligent in Roubaix....
