Anatoly Timofeivich Zverev was born in Moscow and studied at the School of Arts and Crafts as well as the Moscow Regional Art School in memory of 1905. Also known as Anatolij Zverev or Anatoly T. Sverev, he is recognized as a prominent figure in Moscow’s nonconformist art movement. Zverev developed a highly expressive style that he referred to as touchism, marked by rapid brushwork and emotional intensity.

Zverev participated in apartment exhibitions between 1959 and 1962, which were central to the unofficial art scene in Soviet Russia.
