    Andrea de Zerega was born in De Zerega, in the province of Genova, Italy in 1916. In 1932 he and his mother, Maria Aurora Bacigalupo, moved to Washington DC where they reunited with his father, Natale Agostino, and two older brothers, Domenico and Jimmy.

    In Washington de Zerega attended the Americanization School and Central High School. He later attended the Corcoran School of Art from 1935-1939. In 1939 he was awarded a scholarship from the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation of Oyster Bay, New York.

    De Zerega's work first hung in the Corcoran Gallery in 1939. His work continued to be exhibited throughout the United States and in Germany, Austria, Greece, Belgium and Italy.
