Andreas Schön was born in Kassel in 1955 and is an important representative of contemporary figuration. At the age of 20, he enrolled at the art academy in Münster in the class of Lothar Baumgarten. One year later he changed to Norbert Tadeusz. In 1979 Schön moved to the art academy in Düsseldorf, where for the following three years none other than Gerhard Richter became his teacher. Richter was so convinced of the young artist's talent that he made Andreas Schön his assistant between 1983 and 1987. Characteristic of Andreas Schön's work are his almost photorealistic landscape depictions.
