    Andrzej Urbanowica studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and Katowice. He received his diploma in 1962. A painter, essayist, scholar and propagator of Buddhism, and animator independent culture, he became an icon of Polish artistic underground.

    In the early 1960s, together with Urszula Broll, he founded the studio in Katowice, which in the 60s and 70s was a major culture-place. There dealt with, among others, teachings secret, occult, alchemy, astrology and art. In the 60s and 70s he was an independent animation artistic life and an underground publishing activities related to issues of culture and Buddhism.
