    Angelo Garino trained in Turin at the Doyen lithographic works. In 1891, he studied at Pier Celestino Gilardi's School of Painting and the Costume School of the Albertina Academy. He initially devoted himself to landscapes, but became known above all for his portraits—elegant female figures, mostly full-length, sometimes set in natural settings—as well as for his Oriental and contemporary interior scenes. Garino devoted himself mainly to genre paintings, but his landscapes are executed with bold brushstrokes and intense luminosity, blending 19th-century Piedmontese landscape painting with French Post-Impressionism and characterized by a careful observation of nature.
