About Anthony Scott

  • Biography

Fermanagh-born sculptor Anthony Scott absorbed the rich tradition of animal imagery in The Tain and other mythic tales in his late teens. Inspired by a series of television programmes presented by Frank Delaney, he set off to visit the sites himself. But his sculptures are also grounded in the observation of animals at first hand. He grew up on a farm. At the heart of The Tain is Cú Chualainn's heroic bid to thwart the theft of the great stud bull Donn Cuailnge, and Scott has imbued his bull with monumental presence.
