    Anthony Whishaw studied at the Chelsea College of Art from 1948-1952. During the 1960s he exhibited regularly at Roland, Browse and Delbanco, London. At this time he was painting with oils on board or canvas; often depicting monumental figures painted in muted tones.

    His shows were well received; one critic writing "he is a talent of great strength". His work can be found on display in public collections throughout the UK including the Tate, reflecting his importance as a contemporary British artist. Whishaw was made a Royal Academician in 1982.
