According to Edan Hughes, "Artists of California, 1786-1940, Anton Dahl was born in Sweden and moved to northern California in the 1930s. He was a veteran of World Wars I and II and died on June 15, 1967 in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Palo Alto.
