    Arthur Lewin-Funcke (1866-1937)

    Leaning toward Art Deco in the beginning of his career, Lewin-Funcke's work expresses feeling through movement and facial expression. His portrait bust of a laughing baby, exhibited in Berlin in 1908, became the model for the first character doll by Kämmer & Reinhardt. His mother and child groups as well as portrait medallions achieved numerous awards.
