    August Clusserath was born in 1899.

    From 1928-1932 Clusserath studied at the Staatl. School for arts and crafts in Saarbrücken with F. Grewenig and O. Trepte.

    From 1939 to 1945 he was in Berlin, then in Demmin, in 1949 and back in Saarland, in 1950.

    Clusserath was co-founder of the "Neue Sezession", in 1957 of the "neue gruppe saar".

    From 1956 to 1964 he worked as an art teacher in Völklingen. The artist passed away in 1966 in Germany.

    August Clusserath was not understood during his lifetime. His importance was only recognized posthumously, with exhibitions in the Saarland Museum (1990) and the Saarl. Galerie Berlin (2015).
