    August von Wille was a German painter in the late romantic era. From 1843 to 1847 he finished his art studies at the academy in Kassel. In 1847 he joined Johann Wilhelm Schirmer class "Landschaftsklasse" (Landscape class) at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.

    In 1849 he became a member of the Düsseldorf Art Association "Malkasten". From 1859 to 1863 he gave lessons at the Weimar art school where he was called by the Grand Duke Karl-Alexander of Saxonia-Weimar-Eisenach.

    However, in 1863 Wille returned to Düsseldorf for good and lived there with his family until his death. He was active as portraitist and painter of landscapes, architecture and genres. In his works romantic architectural views can ofte...
